RICHMOND -

A company that hosted diverse acts including Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and the Ku Klux Klan in its studios will be featured in a television program about Richmond's recording roots.

Gennett Records will be part of the PBS program "History Detectives" that is scheduled to air Tuesday.

The Palladium-Item reports that show officials decided to visit Richmond to learn more about a record collection a Tennessee woman found when she purchased a phonograph at an Indiana antique store.

The record sleeve had an Indianapolis address and the name "American Record Shop - All K.K.K. Records" stamped on it. It included songs such as "The Bright Fiery Cross" and "The Jolly Old Klansman."

Segments for the TV show were filmed in March at several Richmond locations.
