A 5-year-old Chicago-area boy appears to be the latest Lake Michigan drowning victim along northwest Indiana beaches.

The Times of Munster and the Post-Tribune reported Sunday that Nacere Bradley of Chicago Heights, Ill., died at a Chicago hospital. An autopsy was pending Sunday.

Authorities say the boy and his family were part of a group visiting West Beach near Portage when the boy disappeared about 4 p.m. Thursday. Lifeguards found him underwater about 10 minutes later. The boy was taken to Methodist Hospital in Gary before he was airlifted to a Chicago hospital. He died late Friday.

A 31-year-old New York City man drowned June 18 after his raft capsized near Beverly Shores and a 15-year-old Portage boy drowned July 8 after waves swept him underwater.
