WEST LAFAYETTE -

Former Purdue University President France Cordova is getting $500,000 as part of an agreement approved by the school's trustees.

The Journal & Courier reports Cordova will also reap other benefits in her new role as president emeritus. Some of those benefits were included in the separation agreement approved Friday by Purdue's trustees.

For the 2012-13 year, Cordova's pay is about $476,000, or a 2.2 percent raise from last year. She'll also receive a "retention bonus payment" of $350,000 under that agreement. Cordova is also due another $150,000 retention bonus payment for remaining on the job until July 15.

She'll also have an expanded campus sports recreational center named after her.

Gov. Mitch Daniels will become Purdue's next president in January after he finishes his second term as governor.
