INDIANAPOLIS -

Federal immigration officials have arrested 24 people during three days of raids in the Indianapolis area.

Spokeswoman Gail Montenegro says the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation that ended Monday targeted convicted criminal aliens, immigration fugitives and immigration violators.

ICE says 17 of those arrested had previous convictions for offenses including drug charges and drunken driving. Three had not left the country after they had been ordered to do so, and another three had re-entered the U.S after they were deported.

Those rounded up in Indianapolis, Franklin and Plainfield were 23 men and one woman. The agency says 17 were from Mexico, three from Guatemala, two from El Salvador, and one each from Honduras and Venezuela.
