INDIANAPOLIS -

Gubernatorial candidates John Gregg and Mike Pence are talking about how they would help Hoosier veterans if they win office.

Democrat Gregg says he would hire more veterans claims processors to clear a backlog of benefits claims. Republican Pence says he wants 3 percent of state contracts to go to veteran-owned businesses. The two spoke at the American Legion Department of Indiana's annual convention Friday afternoon in Indianapolis.

Libertarian candidate Rupert Boneham says he would promote mentoring programs for veterans to train youth in the state's juvenile detention centers.

Boneham, Gregg and Pence are running in November's election. Gov. Mitch Daniels is term-limited from seeking re-election.

The campaigns are expected to release their latest fundraising numbers Monday. Pence has held a major fundraising edge in the race so far.
