WASHINGTON, DC -

A Washington, DC police officer is under investigation for allegedly making threats against first lady Michelle Obama.

According to reports the officer is assigned to work in the Special Operations Division which handles presidential and dignitary motorcades.

The officer reportedly was overheard making the comment to another officer during Wednesday morning's roll call. Reports say the officer said he was going to shoot the first lady, then showed the officer a picture of a gun on his cell phone.

The officer has been placed on administrative duties while the investigation continues.

Asked about the report, D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said the department received an allegation "inappropriate comments" were made" and police are investigating.

Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan says the agency is aware of the report and will follow up.
