Marsh Supermarkets announced the closure of three stores Tuesday afternoon.
The company will close stores located at 880 So. U.S. 31, Greenwood, 285 Morton Ave., Martinsville and 831 E. 53rd Street, Anderson.
"While the decision to close a store is always difficult, the Marsh management team is committed to making decisions that will strengthen the Company's position in our marketing areas and ensure our long-term success," Marsh community relations director Connie Gardner wrote in a release announcing the closures.
Marsh has already announced plans to build a new store in downtown Indianapolis.
Employees at the stores affected by the closures will be able to apply for a transfer to another location or be granted a severance package.
