A 24-year-old Indianapolis woman faces charges after a police officer found her sleeping in the street with her three-year-old son.

Indianapolis Metro Police say Michelle McFall blew a .225 on a breath test for alcohol. An officer discovered her in the early hours of Sunday morning outside in the middle of the road in the 2200 block of Rolling Oak Drive.

When the officer woke her up, McFall allegedly began shouting at her and demanding to know why she had woken McFall. The officer said McFall had bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol. She also had injuries to her face and knee.

When the officer explained that she'd woken McFall up because she was in the middle of the street asleep with her son, McFall became angry and denied that she was in the road, and that she and her son were fine and just resting.

At that point McFall's son was placed in an ambulance to be checked out. According to the police report, McFall started screaming profanities and lunged for her child. Officers placed her handcuffs.

McFall told police she was separated from the child's father, Joshua McFall, and that she and the boy had been staying with her father in Rockville. She said her father dropped her off at a home on Rolling Oak Drive so her son could visit her estranged husband. At around 10:00 pm, McFall says her husband insisted on the three of them visiting another home. A witness at that home told police McFall got drunk and began arguing with her husband about his girlfriend. She also told police that her husband pushed her out of the vehicle after bringing her back to the home on Rolling Oak Drive.

Police could not find Joshua McFall, although his car was impounded.

Child Protective Services took custody of the boy, who did not appear to be hurt.
