INDIANAPOLIS -

More than 50 police officers and others are preparing to go on a 13-day bicycle ride to raise money to help the families of officers who died in the line of duty.

The 10th annual Cops Cycling for Survivors bicycle ride will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Law Enforcement/Firefighter Memorial near the Statehouse. A departure ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m.

The first leg of the 1,000-mile journey around the state's perimeter will head east toward Greenfield.

This year's ride is in memory of Terre Haute Police Officer Brent Long, who was shot and killed on July 11, 2011, as he and other officers served a felony warrant. Long is survived by his wife and two children.
