Firefighters battle fire and high temperatures

INDIANAPOLIS -

Fortunately no one was home when fire broke out in an occupied double residence Saturday evening at 210 Hendricks Place, on the city's near east side.

although he's not sure, Joseph Snow told investigators that he might have left food on the stove when he left his home around 6 or 6:30 Saturday evening.

IFD Firefighters again pushing through the high temperate heat to battle another house fire. Although additional firefighting units were not called in to assist with manpower on this run, the IFD Rehab Support Units are getting quite a workout making the rounds at IFD working fires.

In addition to the supply of water kept on the Tactical Support Units (which carry and refill additional SCBA tanks) the Rehab Support Unit, arriving on scene, is a vital link to the firefighters and their ability to stay safe in the extreme heat.

Carrying supplies of Water, Gatorade and snack type items, the Rehab Support Unit is manned by Indianapolis Fire Buffs who volunteer their time to support not only the IFD but any public safety personnel on a working incident.

IMPD, IEMS and other agencies have been the beneficiaries of the men and women who give selflessly of their time to make sure that everyone goes home safe.
