Temperature hits record 105 in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis fell one degree shy of tying the hottest day ever in the city.

The National Weather Service reports the temperature hit 105 degrees, breaking the record for the date of 101 degrees set in 1936. The all-time record high for Indianapolis is 106 degrees set on July 14, 1936.

In Fort Wayne, the high was 103 degrees, breaking the mark for the date of 102 degrees set in 1988. Fort Wayne also set a record with its fourth straight day of temperatures of 100 degrees or above.

Elsewhere in Indiana, the high hit 106 in Bloomington, 105 in Terre Haute, 104 in Evansville and 103 in Lafayette.
