Indians delight holiday crowd with 6-1 win

Posted: Updated:

The Indianapolis Indians' offense put on a show of their own before Wednesday night's post-game fireworks at Victory Field, hitting four home runs - two from first baseman Jeff Clement - to beat the Louisville Bats 6-1.

Shortstop Chase d'Arnaud hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to stake starter Jeff Locke to a 2-0 advantage. Those turned out to be the only runs Locke and the Indians would need.

Clement led off the bottom of the fourth with his team-leading 24th double, moved to third on a passed ball and came home on a sacrifice fly by Yamaico Navarro.

Catcher Tony Sanchez followed with a solo home run to left field to extend the Indianapolis advantage to 4-0.

Louisville scored in the top of the sixth after Locke held them hitless for the first five innings.

Clement hit solo homers in the bottom of the sixth and bottom of the eighth to cap the scoring.

Locke earned his seventh win of the season by holding the Bats to one run on a single hit while striking out six over seven innings.
