Police: Hendricks County personal fireworks ban being ignored by some

Posted: Updated:
HENDRICKS COUNTY -

Police in Hendricks County say some people haven't gotten the word that personal-use fireworks have been banned there.

A dispatcher said officers have been busy all day with complaints about violations of the order, issued recently by county commissioners.

The ban, in effect until at least July 10, prohibits the use of fireworks by individuals because of the high fire danger in ongoing drought conditions.

Police say they are enforcing the ban, and remind residents that even a small spark can result in a fire, which is likely to spread quickly in dry grass and vegetation.
