Four Indiana men face animal fighting charges

LAWRENCEBURG -

Four Indiana men face animal fighting charges after police allegedly caught them with roosters believed destined for cockfighting contests.

The Lafayette men were arrested Friday by state police investigators in southeastern Indiana's Dearborn County after troopers pulled over a car and a van for minor traffic violations. In the van the officers found 21 roosters of the type typically used in cockfighting matches, along with animal fighting paraphernalia.

State police say their investigation revealed the two vehicles were headed to Lexington, Ky., and that the men planned to sell the birds for use in a cockfighting contest.
