GREENWOOD -

A suburban Indianapolis airport is implementing new safety measures after reviewing its response to the crash of a small plane this spring.

No one was hurt in the June 11 crash at the Greenwood airport when a student pilot lost control after landing too hard. It was the first crash there since 2005, but airport manager Ralph Hill says it will be equipping three vehicles with fire extinguishers and medical kits for airport workers to provide immediate help.

Hill tells the Daily Journal that the airport will provide training and have drills to be prepared for future crashes.

Hill says the airport just south of Indianapolis now has just one address and will be labeling its hangars and buildings alphabetically to reduce response times by emergency workers.
