ANGOLA -

Hoosier Girls State is moving to Trine University in Angola next year after nearly four decades at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

The weeklong program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary educates girls about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Delegates will also study how government works at the city, county, and state levels. This year's program was held June 17-23 at Indiana State.

Legion Auxiliary units select roughly 560 high school juniors to serve as delegates.

The move to Trine also comes with upgrades in technology. program director Vickie Koutz of Boonville says resources available at Trine will allow delegates to cast votes and perform other duties online.

Hoosier Boys State moved to Trine from Indiana State in 2009.
