Grant to allow city to continue fireworks show

Posted: Updated:
CRAWFORDSVILLE -

An annual Independence Day fireworks show that was in jeopardy of being canceled after budget cuts two years ago will go on this year thanks to a grant.

The Crawfordsville Park and Recreation Department says it will use the $500 gift from the Montgomery County Community Foundation to fund the July 4 event.

Director Fawn Johnson tells the Journal Review the holiday celebration will go on despite dry conditions that have forced dozens of communities across the state to cancel or postpone their annual fireworks displays.

Most Indiana counties have banned outdoor burning until conditions improve.
