Three dead, two hurt after car hits two trucks in Indiana

REYNOLDS -

Three people have died and two children have been injured when the car they were riding in struck two pickup trucks in northern Indiana.

White County Sheriff Pat Shafer tells the WLFI-TV and the Lafayette Journal & Courier that the car went left of center and sideswiped one pickup before crashing head-on into a second pickup. The crash occurred Friday afternoon about a mile east of Reynolds and seventy-five miles northwest of Indianapolis.

He says two adults and a child in the car died and two other children in the car were injured airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis in critical condition. The names of the victims haven't been released pending notification of relatives.

Shafer says weather doesn't appear to have been a factor in the crash.
