INDIANAPOLIS -
Fishers Police arrested a 23-year-old Indianapolis man in connection with a burglary attempt Thursday. Monitago Griffin faces charges including burglary, false reporting and driving with a suspended license.
Police say Griffin was involved in two burglary attempts Thursday and gave a false name after being pulled over by an officer.
At around 1:10 pm Thursday afternoon in the 10800 block of Turne Grove Lane (near Brooks School Road and 116th Street), a homeowner says a black male, posing as a magazine salesman, rang his door bell. He answered the door and told the man he was not interested. The man drove away in a black SUV. The homeowner checked the security of his home and found damage to his back door.
About twenty minutes later, police were called to a burglary in progress in the 13200 block of Barnegat Lane, near Springstone Drive and 96th Street. The homeowner reported that a black male attempted to get inside her home and then drove away in a black Jeep.
A Fishers police officer patrolling in the area saw the Jeep on Fall Creek Road and initiated a traffic stop. Police say the driver falsely identified himself but later gave his correct identifying information.
Officers confirmed the suspect had several outstanding warrants out of Marion County. Police found items reported stolen to Indianapolis Metro Police in his Jeep.
Griffin was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail.
