Amber Alert for Hammond boy canceled

An Amber Alert for a Hammond boy has been canceled.

Police confirmed the cancellation Thursday night. NBCChicago.com reports the boy was in his mother's car with three of her companions when they took off with the car while the mother was inside a Hammond fireworks store.

The boy is reportedly safe.

The Hammond Police Department is investigating an abducted child from 4218 Calumet Avenue, in Hammond, Indiana.

Jamari Deshawn Strong, a one year old black male with brown eyes and brown hair in braids. Jamari Strong was last seen at 2:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time at 4218 Calumet Avenue., in Hammond, Indiana and is believed to be in extreme danger. Jamari Strong was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jean pants and sandals. The Hammond Police department says Jamari Strong was likely abducted by a black female and a black male, both in their mid 40's and reported to have the first name of Renee and Darrell.

The suspects fled the scene with Jamari Strong in a Maroon 2002 Pontiac Grand Am with Illinois license number P708343 which was last seen driving south from 4218 Calumet Avenue, in Hammond, Indiana and may be headed to Chicago, Illinois.
