FISHERS -

A 25-year-old Fishers man was charged with false reporting after police say he stole his grandmother's snow blower to pay off a drug debt and then reported it as stolen.

Kevin M. Simpson was arrested on a misdemeanor charge. Fishers Police say he called them to report his grandmother's Craftsman snow blower missing from the garage.

One neighbor reported seeing the homeowner's grandson take the snow blower from the garage and load it into a silver passenger car before leaving the neighborhood.

When the investigating officer told the homeowner what the neighbor had seen, the woman said she was not surprised, and also that she was aware of her grandson's heroin addiction.

Simpson admitted to taking the snow blower and said he owed someone in Indianapolis $200 for heroin. He paid off the debt with the snow blower.

Simpson was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail without incident. The victim did not want to report the theft of her snow blower.
