Fort Wayne police shoot mo-ped rider after stop

Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

Authorities say a Fort Wayne police officer shot a man who fled on foot after the officer stopped his mo-ped.

Spokesman Christopher Adams told The Journal Gazette that the man was taken to a hospital where he was listed in serious condition after the Saturday night shooting.

Adams says police found a gun that wasn't a police weapon near the site of the pursuit.

Police didn't say why the officer shot at the man, how many shots were fired or why the officer stopped the mo-ped.

Police didn't identify either the officer or the man who was shot.
