BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - The interim leader of Indiana University's main campus in Bloomington has been named its provost and executive vice president of IU effective July 1.
Laurel Robel's selection to lead the 42,000-student campus was announced Friday by IU President Michael McRobbie. He says that since her appointment as interim provost in December, she has earned the trust of her colleagues across the university and worked to improve the academic environment for undergraduates in Bloomington.
Robel previously was dean of the IU-Bloomington law school since 2003 and a faculty member there since 1985. She also graduated from the law school.
Former IU-Bloomington Provost Karen Hanson left Jan. 31 to become senior vice president and provost at the University of Minnesota.
