OWEN COUNTY -

A Martinsville woman died Thursday following a one-vehicle crash late Wednesday night. Her two young children survived the crash.

Police say Rikki Edwards, 26, died. According to the Owen County Sheriff's Department, the crash occurred just after 11:00 pm Wednesday night a mile north of Spencer on US 231.

Edwards' 2001 Dodge van left the road and hit a metal post supporting a billboard. Edwards was extricated and taken to Bloomington Hospital. She was later airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where she died from her injuries the next day.

Two children, ages one and two, were taken to Bloomington Hospital. The one-year-old was airlifted to Riley Hospital Thursday. The children's conditions are unknown.

Police say the children were belted in and Edwards was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
