Metro homicide is investigating the shooting death of a 30-year-old man who was shot in the stomach on the east side and later died.
Police say at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers were called to the 4700 block of East 19th Street on reports that a person had been shot and that he was down on the ground.
Officers found the 30-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. He was taken to Wishard Memorial hospital in critical condition and later died. The Marion County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy Friday morning to confirm the cause of death.
Police are waiting to release the man's name after they have notified his relatives.
Homicide investigators are talking to witnesses and reviewing evidence. They ask that anyone with information about this shooting call homicide detectives at 317.327.3475.
