FISHERS -

The Fishers Town Hall was evacuated after a gas line was cut near the building. It happened as crews were working in the area around 1:15 pm. A trencher was being used and caught the gas line.

It occurred in a busy area that includes the library and BMV branch. The BMV branch was also evacuated during the leak, along with the town hall and Fishers Police administration. Traffic was diverted from the area as a precaution.

By 2:15 pm, the gas company was on site. One side of the pipe was closed down, but they had to dig to clamp the other side. By 3:00 pm, the leak was contained.

All affected buildings were checked for remaining gas and checked out okay.

Fishers Town Hall and Fishers Police administration were closed for the rest of the day.

See a map showing the location.
