INDIANAPOLIS -

A two-year-old boy was reunited with his relieved mother after a frantic four-hour search in the early morning hours Thursday.

In all, 75 firefighters and police officers searched for the toddler, named Henry.

Rebecca Thompson discovered Henry missing around 3:00 am.Thompson and her family were staying with a relative at the Keystone North apartment complex on Edgemere Court because her air conditioner was not working.

Thompson told Eyewitness News that Henry was sleeping next to her, then she noticed he was gone and the door to the apartment was unlocked.

"Went to bed at 1:30. I woke up because I didn't feel him next to me in bed. I checked the door because he likes doors. Nowhere to be found," said Thompson.

Thompson and Henry spent the night at her daughter's apartment because her home doesn't have air conditioning. Inside the apartment, the locks were apparently no match for the curious toddler.

Teams of firefighters and police officers searched the home, neighboring apartments, and knocked on all the doors in the complex. They looked around playgrounds, in parked cars, under bushes, and checked a nearby creek.

A bloodhound tracked the boy's scent out the apartment door, but soon lost it. The search and the wait continued for more than four hours.

"We've searched everywhere. I just want my baby. Somebody please," Thompson pleaded as the search went on.

Law enforcement teams went back a second time to look at every apartment. That's when they found Henry not far from home.

"Oh my baby!" "Thank you!" Thompson cried.

A deputy found Henry asleep in a bed alone in an upstairs apartment.

Thompson says she's taking Henry back home, and investing in better locks.
