TERRE HAUTE -

An Indiana National Guard unit will move its headquarters and operations to Terre Haute from Indianapolis.

WIBC-FM and WTHI-TV report the 81st Troop Command will establish its headquarters at Hulman Field in Terre Haute. The unit, commanded by Brigadier General Joe Osborne, is responsible for emergency response and operations in the event of a manmade or natural disaster.

Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger says the move will give his office an alternate command post if something should happen in Indianapolis that impedes operations there.

The 81st Troop Command consists of nearly 100 full-time and part-time positions.
