INDIANAPOLIS -
Indianapolis Metro Police are searching for the suspects who shot and killed two Indianapolis brothers. It happened while the young men were sitting in a car at 38th and Georgetown Road early Sunday morning.
The victims' mother is on her way back from Ball State University after cleaning out her son's dorm room. Someone shot and killed 21-year-old BSU student Andre Stennett-Harrod and his 24-year-old brother LaVonne Harrod early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened after the two brothers left the Cloud 9 nightclub on West 38th Street. When they got to Georgetown Road, police say someone opened fire on the car. A third person asleep in the car did not get hurt.
Andre's mother told me his classes start up at Ball State next week.
I got to know Andre through several community mentoring programs which he participated in as a high school student. He also helped start a basketball program with neighborhood friends called Play it Forward. Andre participated in the Beautillion Militaire Scholarship program for high school students before going to college.
Sources tell Channel 13 the shooting may stem from a disagreement inside Cloud 9, which unexpectedly reached capacity.
Right now Metro homicide detectives are looking for any clues from witnesses that will help lead them to the shooters. You can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 262-TIPS.
