LAFAYETTE -

Lafayette Police arrested a man Monday night after he had escaped from the Atterbury Correctional facility earlier in the day.

Jacob Aflleje, 31, was arrested after police responded to a burglar alarm at the Macy's department store at Tippecanoe Mall at 10:30 p.m.  Police found Aflleje leaving through a side door to the store.

The Indiana Department of Correction reported Aflleje was discovered missing early Monday afternoon after he walked away from a work crew at Camp Atterbury.

Police found a stolen vehicle in the parking lot at Macy's, which was tied to the escape from the work detail Aflleje had been on.

Afllege was serving a 10-year sentence for arson out of Morgan County. He was due to be released July 7.

Police say Afllege lied about his identity when he was caught at the Macy's.  He is being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail without bond.  He now faces additional charges of escape, false informing, burglary, attempted theft and possession of stolen property.
