Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal accident that killed 20-year-old Chelsea Ann Lovett of Granger Sunday afternoon in Brown County State Park.

Lovett, a trail guide at the park, was on horseback, leading a guided trail ride on the north end of the park at approximately 12:30 p.m. when a dead tree fell, catching the limb of a second tree that then fell and hit her.

She died at the scene, according to First Sgt. Paul Bykowski of DNR Law Enforcement.

A second person went to Bloomington Hospital with minor injuries when thrown from a horse in same incident.

According to the Purdue Exponent, Lovett was a Purdue student in College of Agriculture.

Information will be updated as it becomes available.
