More than 2 dozen arrested in southwest Indiana drug sweep

Posted: Updated:
PRINCETON -

Police in southwestern Indiana have arrested more than two dozen people on various drug charges in a sweep after a nine-month investigation.

Princeton police say those arrested face charges that include dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

Detective Mike Hurt says the investigation included drug deals that officers watched happen in broad daylight near schools and parks in the city about 25 miles north of Evansville. Hurt tells the Princeton Daily Clarion that 27 people were arrested Thursday and police had arrest warrants for nine others.

The southwestern Indiana area has been troubled with high number of meth labs in recent years, but officials say Gibson County has seen fewer since the Princeton police dedicated two positions to handle drug investigations.
