75-year-old Indiana woman admits killing son-in-law

NEW ALBANY -

A 75-year-old southern Indiana woman has admitted in court that she fatally shot her son-in-law in a plea agreement that heads off her trial on murder charges.

Nettie Luckett of New Albany pleaded guilty Thursday to a voluntary manslaughter charge for the August shooting of 49-year-old Douglas Randolph in her home. She's to receive a 30-year prison sentence if a Floyd County judge accepts the deal during a July 12 hearing.

An autopsy found that Randolph was shot in the back of the head with a handgun.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville reports Luckett's voice was barely audible as she answered "Yes sir" when her attorney asked whether she killed Randolph.

Prosecutor Keith Henderson tells the News and Tribune there was a dispute between Luckett and Randolph but isn't giving specifics.
