ANGOLA -

Hoosier Boys Staters marking the event's 75th anniversary have received visit from former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz.

Holtz told the more than 500 high school juniors attending the program at Trine University in Angola that leaders must have a vision. During the talk Wednesday, Holtz also encouraged the boys to make good choices and to show people that they care. But he also says adversity is the biggest motivator, and overcoming obstacles is the key to success.

During the weeklong program, attendees learn about politics and government. The American Legion brought Boys State to Indiana in 1937.

Holtz coached Notre Dame for 10 seasons, amassing a record of 100-30-2. He led the Fighting Irish to a national championship in 1988.
