Viola Davis: loving rivals

Posted: Updated:
BEVERLY HILLS -

They may have been competing for an Oscar against each other this spring, but there is really no rivalry between actresses Viola Davis and Meryl Streep.

The two vied for best actress honors at this year's Oscars - with Streep beating out Davis for her work in "The Help." But earlier this week, the two actresses praised each other at the Women in Film's annual Crystal + Lucy Awards.

Streep called Davis "a lionhearted woman" as well as a gifted actress. The two starred together in the movie "Doubt" and Davis said she was touched when Streep sent a card after the film wrapped.

She says the card is framed on her wall, so Streep "can never come over to the house."
