SOUTH BEND -

A South Bend woman accused of pouring boiling water on her boyfriend while he was sleeping has been charged with aggravated assault.

Police said 41-year-old Tearsa Broadnax poured the boiling water on 52-year-old Rickey Clark early Saturday morning. A spokeswoman for the St. Joseph Regional Burn Center in Fort Wayne says Clark was listed in serious condition on Monday.

WSBT-TV reports Broadnax told police she poured the boiling water on Clark in retaliation for a previous fight.

Broadnax was being held on $50,000 bond in the St. Joseph County Jail.
