Purdue trustees meet in private for president search

WEST LAFAYETTE -

Purdue University's trustees are planning their sixth private meeting this year in the ongoing search for the school's next president.

The trustees are scheduled to meet in executive session Friday somewhere at the Indianapolis International Airport to discuss and interview a candidate for university president.

Spokesman Chris Sigurdson tells the Journal & Courier the ongoing search for school president France Cordova's successor is closed to the public. Cordova steps down as president on July 15

Sigurdson says "a general location is enough under the law" because it's a closed-door search.

But Hoosier State Press Association executive director Stephen Keys says that rationale seems to conflict with state law. He says state lawmakers allow "for the discussion to be held in secret, not the location of the meeting."
