PLAINFIELD -

A correctional officer was arrested Wednesday for trafficking drugs with an inmate.

Travis Wilbur of Indianapolis faces preliminary felony charges of possession of marijuana, trafficking with an inmate and dealing in a controlled substance. The officer at the Plainfield Correctional Facility was arrested by fellow officers as he attempted to bring suspected narcotics into the prison.

Drugs later confirmed to be marijuana and Suboxone, a schedule 3 narcotic, were found in Wilbur's lunch box, hidden in black electrical tape inside what appeared to be Taco Bell wrappers. The arrest came after officers were alerted that Wilbur had been trafficking with offenders at the facility.

Wilbur had been employed at the Plainfield facility since March 2011.
