Police: Drunken driver rams cruiser during chase

VEVAY -

State police have arrested a man who they say rammed a trooper's cruiser when officers tried to stop him from fleeing in southeastern Indiana.

Police say Senior Trooper Patrick Williams was treated for pain at a hospital and released.

Authorities say Williams tried Tuesday night to stop a pickup truck on Indiana 56 near the Ohio River town of Vevay, but the driver fled at up to 100 mph. Officers used stop sticks to deflate the truck's tires, but police say the driver rammed Williams' cruiser twice and eventually crashed in Vevay. Police say the man ran away but was caught.

The 40-year-old man faces drunken driving, criminal recklessness and other charges.
