Hundreds of people turned for the funeral and burial of a National Guard soldier killed during an attack in Afghanistan, with many lining the route to the cemetery near his western Indiana hometown.

Indiana Adjutant Gen. Martin Umbarger read remembrances about Spc. Arronn Fields from his fellow soldiers during Tuesday's funeral in Brazil. One of those described Fields as someone who "just did his job and did it better than any other soldier."

Military officials say the 27-year-old from Knightsville was killed May 21 during a rocket propelled grenade attack.

Gov. Mitch Daniels also spoke during the funeral, saying he honored Fields for doing his duty and that he is now a profound figure in the history of his community.
