IMPD investigates couple's shooting deaths

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

What started as an argument led to the shooting deaths of a west side couple early Wednesday morning. IMPD detectives believe a man shot and killed his longtime companion before turning the gun on himself.

Dead are Jonathan Ogden, 43, Indianapolis and Veronica Bailey, 40, Indianapolis.  They were pronounced dead in the front yard of their home in the 1300 block of South Worth Avenue.

Officers were called by the couple's daughter, who told a dispatcher that her parents were down in the front yard.

Witnesses tell police the two were not married, but had been living together for more than twenty years.  Investigators believe the shooting took place a couple of hours prior to the bodies being found.

Ogden was previously arrested for domestic battery on May 25.

Investigators are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting.

The exact cause and manner of death will be determined by autopsies by the Marion County Coroner's Office.
