INDIANAPOLIS -

A state judicial panel has chosen three finalists for an upcoming vacancy on the Indiana Court of Appeals.

The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission on Monday chose Marion County Criminal Court Judge Robert R. Altice Jr., Madison County Circuit Court Judge Rudolph R. Pyle III and Indianapolis attorney Patricia Caress McMath as the finalists.

The names of the three finalists will be sent to Gov. Mitch Daniels, who will appoint the new judge.

The judicial panel received 14 applications for the appeals court vacancy that will be created when Judge Carr Darden retires this summer. The three finalists were chosen from among five semifinalists.
