MORGANTOWN -

Police in Morgan County are searching for a man wanted in a Monday morning bank robbery.

Investigators with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department say a white male in his late 40s or early 50s robbed the First Merchants Bank of Morgantown shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. A witness told police the man approached a teller, pointing a semi-automatic handgun at her and demanded all of the 100-, 50- and 20-dollar bills "and not to provide him with any bait money."

The man reportedly fled the scene in a black or dark blue passenger car, making an abrupt U-turn and heading east on SR 135 toward Trafalgar. The man is described as being heavy set with near-shoulder length grayish hair. Police believe he was acting alone.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call Detective Sgt. Dan Downing at the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at 765-342-5544.
