INDIANAPOLIS -

Police are investigating a crash in a construction zone on I-465, last evening involving an IMPD officer and three other vehicles.

It took place last night around 11:30pm Saturday, near I-465 eastbound, at the North Keystone exit. Four cars were involved, including the IMPD patrol car. Two people in a mini van were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The officer was also slightly injured.

Jim Bilderback was a passenger in the last car to be struck. He described how the officer's car was involved in the crash.

"We were just driving down the lane - my son Mike was driving - then we heard this screeching behind us, and we felt the thump behind us," said Bilderback. "Apparently, the police car hit two cars that sideswiped each other and knocked one of them into our rear end."

As a result of new IMPD rules, the officer was given a breath test, but no blood sample was taken.
