Mishawaka couple shot to death in their home

Posted: Updated:

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a northern Indiana couple have been fatally shot while their children listened, and have filed charges against the man's ex-con brother and a female accomplice.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office filed two murder charges Saturday and a weapons charge against 41-year-old Steven Clippenger of South Bend. He's being held without bond. Forty-year-old Jennifer Leveque charged with assisting a criminal and giving a handgun to a felon. She's being held on $60,000 bond.

Police say Matthew and Lisa Clippenger, the brother and sister-in-law of the suspect, were fatally shot at their Mishawaka home early Saturday as their children listened. They say Steven Clippenger had been paroled in 2010 after serving 20 years in prison for murder.

The ages of the victims haven't been released.
