An administrative job at Purdue University held by the husband of the school's president is being eliminated as she leaves the school this summer.

The director of Purdue's Discovery Park research center says Christian Foster's position as its education outreach program director is among three jobs being cut there as part of campuswide budget reductions.

The Journal & Courier reports Foster is the only person to hold the position since it was created in 2007 shortly after France Cordova became Purdue's president. Foster's salary about $101,000 last year.

Cordova announced last year she would step down as president effective July 15.

Discovery Park director Alan Rebar says Foster's position has been important for its outreach to science teachers and education researchers and that he hopes to eventually restore it.
