State parks are sold out for the holiday weekend, but the fun may be limited by what's not in the lakes.

All state campgrounds report they're at full capacity for the long Memorial Day weekend, but Lake Mississinewa and Salamonie Lake in the northeast part of the state have posted low water warnings. A dry May left water levels at Mississinewa seven feet lower than expected.

The Department of Natural Resources says that creates shallow areas that boaters don't expect. Boating is still permitted and Michelle Mohring says it's still good boating, too.

"We boated here when the dam was being worked on and the water level was lower than this. Just got to be careful," she said.

"It's still a lot of fun. At least you can still use the boat," said her husband, Dave.

Swimming is not banned, but the DNR discourages it because of sharp rocks in farther out areas, where swimmers usually don't go.
