Town suspends marshal during investigation

FARMLAND -

An eastern Indiana town has suspended its top police officer and his two deputies as a possible theft is being investigated.

Randolph County Sheriff Ken Hendrickson tells The Star Press that his department is taking all police-related calls from the 1,300-person town of Farmland since the Town Council took the action Monday against the three officers and another town worker.

Farmland council President Troy Bain says the town asked state police to handle the investigation and that he hoped it could be resolved fairly quickly.

Bain declined to confirm what allegations against the town marshal and the deputies were being investigated.
