John Lennon's killer transferred to another prison

Posted: Updated:
BUFFALO -

John Lennon's killer has gone from one maximum-security prison to another.

The Buffalo News reports Mark David Chapman has been transferred from Attica to Wende Correctional Facility outside Buffalo, New York. A state prison system spokesman won't say why inmates are transferred, but he does say it's unusual after an inmate has been in one place for so long.

Chapman has served more than 30 years at Attica for shooting John Lennon in December 1980. He has been denied parole six times and is eligible again in August.
