While fans watched the speed at the track Saturday, parents are cheering on their own little "racers" at the 500 Festival Kids' Day.
Touted as the state's largest free outdoor festival for children, the annual "Kid's Day" brings families by the thousands downtown.
Dozens of exhibitors fill Monument Circle, including the WTHR booth, where WTHR personalities signed autographs.
The Rookie Run let's kids ages three to 12 get in the racing spirit as they sprint along their own downtown race course in a non-competitive fun-run.
But the biggest attraction is a giant ferris wheel, a new addition this year.
Other new attractions included remote-controlled race cars and a race car simulator.
Music, popular mascots, and the 500 festival princesses rounded out the day.
